CC184 & SC194

So, it's been a while since I participated in an SCS Challenge.I decided (as usual) to combine the Colour and Sketch challenges.

Colours are Ridinghood Red, Always Artichoke & Basic Gray. I used my Bella Rose DSP for the red parts. I inked up my stamp with Ruby Red (close), Always Artichoke, and So Saffron Stampin' Write Markers. I painted on some Golden Wheat Shimmerz to the yellow parts of the flowers, but you can't really see it from far away.

I used 3 Dew Drops from the Lily Pad colour bottle and stuck them to the top right colour with Mini Glue Dots.

For the top photo corner, I stamped the Bella Toile BG on white CS in Ridinghood Red ink and punched it out with the Photo Corner puch.

The sentiment is from the Hostess set called Best Yet, and some Ridinghood Red Taffeta ribbon is tied to the left side.

That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by!

The other 5 Xmas Cards from Xmas in September

This post is actually a part 2 to a much earlier post. I had posted 1 out of the 6 cards I made for my Xmas in September stamp camp, and here are the other 5. A lot of times (if I haven't got the time to design complete originals), I will CASE cards, or parts of cards from fellow stampers. This was definitely one of those times : )

This card uses the Big On Christmas stamp set with Holiday Treasures DSP.

Whisper White and Old Olive CS, as well as Old Olive Grosgrain and Ridinghood Red Taffeta Ribbons across the centre.

The Designer Label Punch was used with the Level 1 Hostess Set call Best Yet.

The ornament was stamped a second time, coloured in, cut out, and mounted on Dimensionals.

The second card uses the same colour combo. I punched out squares of DSP with the 1 3/8" Square Punch and scalloped the bottom edge of the Ridinghood Res CS.

The Level 2 Hostess set called Deer Friends was used here with the Chocolate Chip ink pad. Also used the 1 3/8" Circle Punch and the Scallop Circle Punch.

The third card uses my favourite Christmas set of all time: Holiday Lineup. Colours are Pacific Pointe, Whisper White, and Basic Black.
The BG is called Sanded, stamped in Pacific Pointe ink on White CS.
The snowmen were stamped on the main panel in black, then stamped on a white scrap, coloured in, and punched out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch.

That was mounted on a 1 3/8" Circle of Pacific Pointe. This technique is called Spotlighting. It's easy and very effective!

The sentiment is from the Curly Label bundle using the Curly Label Punch.
If you click on the picture (to view the larger version), you will be able to see that I used Crystal Effects to make icicles and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds glitter on them.

The fourth card uses Real Red CS with the Real Red Patterns DSP from the Hostess Level 1 reward. There is a wheel on the right side (hard to see) - it is called Jolly. The main panel uses a snowflake from Snow Burst. That is stamped on Very Vanilla CS in Real Red ink, and punched out with the 1 3/8" Square Punch. I added some of the Tombo adhesive to some of the points, then added the red chunky glitter.

I wanted to frame everything with black, but i thought that would be too harsh, so I used Basic Gray instead.

The last card uses the set Holy Triptych. I think this set is so beautiful, but I always worry about religious cards at my camps. Only because you don't know which guests will be okay with which cards.
When I saw the original of this card, I just thought it was gorgeous. The base is Baja Breeze, and the main background panel is Pacific Pointe, stamped with Encore Gold ink using the (retired) French Script BG stamp.
I also used Brushed Gold CS, and some black to make it pop. The image is coloured with Watercolour Pencils and an Aqua Painter.
I showed everyone how to use the masking technique with the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (although we have done that before). Everyone is usually so scared to use that contraption because they have no idea what it's supposed to do. Sometimes it's a necessity when "eye-balling it" just won't do.
Thanks for stopping by!

My Sample for KWerner's Challenge #23

WOW, huge computer issues today. I will have to post details later.

*Added Sept. 20*

OK, so here are the details. The card base is a 10 1/2" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White CS folded in half. Then, there is a 5" x 5" piece of Chocolate Chip. I used a polka dot stamp from Close To My Heart on the left side with Versamark, and embossed with dark brown EP (retired SU).

On top is a piece of So Saffron, and then some Chocolate Chip DSP (retired) with some paper piercing (paper piercer and Mat Pack). I used some of the Old Olive Rub-Ons (retired) from the SAB 2008 catty.
The piece of Whisper White has "Birthday Celebrations" stamped using Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers.
There is a Pumpkin Pie Circle and a Bravo Burgundy Scalloped Circle (both Nestabilities), and the flowers from Upsy Daisy are stamped in Pumpkin Pie, and highlighted with the White Gel Pen.
There is also some 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon around the base layer.

I didn't end up liking this colour challenge as much as in past. It's probably because I used the colours badly. I should have toned it down a bit...but what can you do when it's late at night?

Thanks for stopping by!

My Sample for Colour Inspiration Challenge 22

I was too late to participate in the actual competition part of it, but I decided to post anyway. I only had about 40 minutes after work today to try my hand at it, and it took me an hour and 40 minutes. *blush*
Here are the details:
The card base is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Whisper White CS folded in half. The Bravo Burgundy piece is 4 1/4" x 3 1/2". The Regal Rose piece is 5 1/2" x 2", and on top of that is a 5 1/2" x 1" piece of Rose Red. On top of that is a 5 1/2" x 1/2" piece of Soft Sky Prints DSP (retired). Then I used some of my white Rub-Ons that SU had in their SAB catty in 2008. I LOVE rub-ons!
I stamped 2 of the onesies from By Ones & By Twos (retired?) on white, coloured a TINY bit with my Blender Pen and my Soft Sky ink, cut them out, and adhered them with Dimensionals. Next, I inked up my sentiment from the same set with my black Stampin' Write Marker and punched that out with my Word Window punch.
Oh well, I will try to be earlier next week! Thanks for stopping by!

KWerner's 22nd Colour Inspiration Challenge

Well, I am clearly late in posting this week's colour challenge from over at Kristina's blog. In order for them to be considered for the top ten, or the random ten, they have to be in by Thursday (today) night at 7pm, MT. I think we are 3 hours ahead of them, so that would be 10pm, EST here. However, I will get home from work around 9pm, so not too sure if 1 hour will be enough.

Give it a try! Colours are Bravo Burgundy, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Soft Sky, and Whisper White.

Time to bring out....the Christmas Cards???

Hi all,

So, I have pulled out this year's first Xmas camp card. This one uses some new colours, it is slightly unorthodox. I did use my new Sizzix Big Shot Scallop Circle die though! The regular circles were done with my Coluzzle. I used colours Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, and Basic Gray. The stamp set is Season of Joy, which I wanted when it was back in the Holiday mini catalogue, but didn't have a chance to get. YAY!

I also love the new ribbons...all different sizes, textures, and colours. This one is the wide grosgrain double stitched ribbon in Baja Breeze. This one is really hard to tie...I've tried, believe me. So, I decided to just wrap it around one of the layers instead.

I used my 2-way Glue Pen and SU's Cosmo Glitter pack (the green one) for the glitter on the tree.

Keep watch, as I will be posting all of the samples for my upcoming stamp camp (Xmas in September)! Thanks for stopping by!

My Sample for KWerner's 21st Challenge

This was a really difficult challenge for me. I could see myself using maybe the white, plus 2 of the other colours together...but the blue, the green, AND the pinks??? It was really bright for me, so I tried to make it as simple as possible.

The card base is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Whisper White CS folded in half. The next layer is a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White, sponged with Regal Rose ink. At the bottom of that, I stamped my sentiment from Sincere Salutations in Versamark, and sponged on some Rose Red pastel.

Then, there is a 4 1/4" x 2 1/2" piece of Kiwi Kiss CS, which was scalloped using the Scallop Edge Punch from SU. It was also embossed in white with the sprig image from the set Always. I tied some of the new Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon around that and mounted it with Dimensionals.

For the heart (also from the set Always), I stamped it once in Pacific Point ink on White CS, and cut it out. Then, I stamped it in Versamark onto Pacific Point CS and embossed in white. I cut that one out, but a little smaller than the first one. I layered those on top of eachother, then onto the card, all with Dimensionals.

I think I saw this general layout somewhere on SCS, with the horizontal strip and the heart. Not too sure though.

Thanks for stopping by!

Kristina Werner's Colour Challenge #21

It's time again for another Colour Challenge from KWerner! This is a bright one, so watch out. But, it does include some of the new In Colors, which is great! The colours are: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Regal Rose, and Whisper White.

I will post my sample ASAP. Good luck!
