Kraftin Kimmie Challenge 22: Eyelets!

Hi All,

I wanted to get a card in (just under the deadline) for Kimmie's challenge #22 from the past 2 weeks - to use eyelets on your project.

Here she is:

My card base is a really old In Color from SU (from 2006, can't remember the name). It's a mixture of purple and blue.  That is followed by a Whisper White layer, then a Soft Suede layer.  I actually embossed that layer, but it got lost because of the size of the main panel on top, so I won't bother mentioning it : )

The main panel is a Whisper White piece with a Basic Black mat.  The white piece has Soft Suede ink sponged all around the outside,  I stamped Lavinia in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto that piece, and coloured her in with Copics.  I also stamped the mechanical gear (Lavinia's accessory) around the outside with Soft Suede ink.  I stamped the sentiment from Steampunk Sentiments in Black ink just off to the right side.

For my eyelet portion, I decided to make some spirellis.  I used Spellbinders Spirellabilities to cut out the white pieces, then used some black thread to go around them.  I added Pewter jumbo eyelets to the middle of each one.  Pretty simple, and fun!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Harrrrrr, Matey!

Hi All,

I decided to make a cute pirate card with Nico from InStyle Stamps.  We all need some boy cards once in a while, and they are usually more difficult to make!  However, just grab a male image, combine it with some neutral or masculine colours, and you should be set...as long as you're not one of those people that has to add flowers and bows to everything!

Here he is:

My card base is Whisper White, followed by a Basic Black layer, and a Basic Gray layer.  The black layer has the corners punched with a Notch punch from SU, and Linen Thread all around it as a frame.  The Basic Gray piece was run through the Big Shot with my Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug embossing folder.

At the bottom of that, I stamped a sentiment from Kraftin' Kimmie onto Whisper White CS in black ink, and added some "blood" with a red marker (boys love gore).  I cut it out with the Modern Label Punch, and added 2 self-adhesive nail heads to the sides.  I mounted that onto a 1" white circle (smeared with Basic Gray ink), and then onto a Black piece cut with Designer Label Punch.

For the main panel, it is a Basic Black layer, followed by a Basic Gray layer, once again punched with the Corner Notch punch, and threaded with Linen Thread.  I printed Nico off onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured him with Copics, cut him out with Rectangle Nesties, and added some Basic Gray sponging inside that.  I also added some more nail heads to those 4 corners.

I think it makes a pretty good card for a guy...not too froofy (I think I just made that up).  Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

InStyle Stamps Blog Hop: Easter

Hi All,

It's that time of the month...ISS blog hop time!  This month, our theme is Easter!  If you came here from Angelique's blog, you're in the right spot!  If not, head on over to the ISS blog to see the entire role call!

Here's my card:

This time, my card base is Tempting Turquoise, cut with Curved rectangle Nesties.  The next layer is a Whisper White piece embossed with the SU Petals A Plenty embossing folder. matted with a piece of Rich Razzelberry.  I wrapped a piece of Rich Razzelberry polka dot ribbon around that layer, and added 3 daisies (Martha Stewart) to the left side.

For the main panel, I printed Chick Falling onto Neenah Solar White CS, and coloured it in with Copics.  I cut out the panel with Curved Rectangle Nesties, and added some Rich Razzelberry sponging.  That layer is matted with Basic Black.

Your next stop in Cyndi...

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Some Odd Girl's First Challenge!

Hi All,

We are celebrating the first Some Odd Girl challenge! The challenge is for your project to use a rainbow theme!  Now, you can take that however you like, but rainbows have to be represented somewhere on your card!  Head on over to the SOG Challenge Blog to check it out!

Here is mine:

I am using the newly-released Sun image from SOG - soooo cute!

My card base is a Whisper White square, then a layer of Basic Black CS.  On top of that, I made another mat from 6 different colours/patterns of SU DSP.  This is obviously my rainbow representation : )  Next, I added a large white panel, where the top and bottom are punched with an SU punch, and I added rhinestones along both edges.

I added a Basic Black strip across that, and then I made the panel with the scene.  It is a Whisper White piece, and the grass is stamped in Wild Wasabi ink with a miscellaneous grass stamp from Michael's.  I used a scallop circle to create the clouds with Bashful Blue ink.  I stamped the sunshine sentiment (from Verve) in Versamark, and embossed with Black EP.

Finally, I printed the sun onto PTI White CS twice, and coloured both with Copics.  I cut the sun rays out with a Circle Nesty, and added some Shimmerz for sparkle.  I cut the sun out with scissors, and added it on with Dimensionals.

Hope you enjoyed, and make sure to check out what the DT came up with!  Thanks for stopping by!

InStyle Stamps: Marissa

Hi All,

I am showing a card today using Marissa from InStyle Stamps.  I really like this digi because it comes with a built-in scene - the grass and the flowers give the image some extra interest.

My card base is Whisper White, which is embossed with my Cuttlebug Floral Screen Embossing folder.  The next white layer was embossed with the Forest Branches folder, and I added some black brads to each corner.  I added 3 strips of black grosgrain ribbon to that white layer.

I printed Marissa off onto PTI White CS, and coloured her with Copics and a couple of Prismacolour Pencils.  I cut her out with Rectangle Nesties, and layered onto a Basic Black rectangle - both punched with the Ticket Corner Punch.

The sentiment and label are from SU, punched out with the Curly Label punch, and mounted on with Dimensionals.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

MTSC65: Flyin' Pig Sneak Peek

Hi All,

I'm here to show you a card I made with a cutie pie Some Odd Girl image.  This Flyin Pig is one of the images being released on March 23. They are digi images, and they are only $3! I love these images, because they are PERFECT for colouring, and what is my favourite thing to do??? That's right, colour!
I combined it with Mercy's sketch challenge from this week:

My card base is Pretty In Pink.  I added a Basic Black and Whisper White layer, where the corners are punched with the Martha Stewart corner crown punch.  I couldn't make the 3 strips start at the bottom because of the decorative corners (I realized afterwards that maybe I shouldn't have punched the bottom corners).  The 3 strips are Melon Mambo, and I distressed all the edges.  I tied a piece of Pink Gingham ribbon in a knot around that base layer.

For the main panel, I punched out a Whisper White and Basic Black scallop circle with Nesties, then a Basic Black and Pretty In Pink circle.  I printed the Mr. Piggy (Flyin' Pig) onto PTI White CS, coloured him with Copics, and cut him out.  I covered his wings with White fluff using my 2-Way Glue Pen, and mounted him onto the circles with Dimensionals.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Wedding Week: Mylie

Hi All,

It's Wedding Week over at InStyle Stamps, and today's featured stamp is Mylie.  I couldn't decide whether to make an elegant project or a fun one, so I made both!  Head on over to the InStyle Stamps blog to check out what all the Design Team have done...

For my first project, it's a card!  Here she is:

The card base is Whisper White, then there is a layer of Whisper White CS, where I cut around the edges with decorative scissors.  I added 4 Gold Photo Corners onto that piece, and added some pearls to each corner (from Michael's).

For the main panel, it is also Whisper White, and I used one of the Luxe Label brass templates from the Touch of Grace store (see my sidebar for link) to emboss the cardstock and cut out the pieces between the medallion.  I added some Gold Krylon pen to the outside, and some pearls.  I weaved some White Organdy ribbon through that medallion, and tied it in a bow.
I printed Mylie onto PTI White CS, and I used the same brass template to cut her out in a smaller panel, and added Gold Krylon pen to the outside of that.  I printed Mylie off again, coloured her in with Copics, and cut out her head and dress, and stuck them onto the panel with Dimensionals.

Here is my second project - I thought it could be a gift for bridesmaids, maybe?

I decided to make a 3" x 3" Notecard Box as a little gift.  I made it with Raspberry Tart DSP, Whisper White CS, and Rose Red CS.

For the top of the box, I used my square Nesties to cut out a Whisper White square, a Rose Red square, and a Whisper White scallop square.  I added some Rose Red sponging to the white square.  I printed Mylie off onto PTI White CS, coloured her in with Copics, cut her out, and mounted her on with Dimensionals.  I printed her off again onto DSP and cut her dress out to paper piece it on.

I printed the sentiment onto white CS and cut it out for the lid of the box.  It says, "My friend got married, and all I got was this stupid dress..."!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stoping by!

Over Hump Day Blog Candy Give Away: Greens and Yellows

Hi All,

Thanks for joining me today. I have a card to share with you, participating in the OHDBCGA for this month (3rd Saturday of every month) .  I have used the Bunny Car image by InStyle Stamps in honour of Easter (once again)!
The challenge this month is to use green an yellow...

OK, so I was thinking St. Patrick's Day, right?  Well how about I really challenge myself, and NOT do a St. Patrick's Day card?  So, here it is...

I started out with a Whisper White card base.  There is a large rectangle panel with some bright green CS (from Michael's), and a Whisper White piece embossed with my Cuttlebug Houndstooth embossing folder.  I added some paper piercing around that, and some Certainly Celery Poly Twill ribbon around the bottom of that panel.

For the main panel, it is the same green CS, then a Whisper White piece.  The top piece is So Saffron, sponged with So Saffron ink, then Certainly Celery ink, then Glorious Green ink for a gradiated effect.  After the sponging, I embossed that layer with the houndstooth folder, and added paper piercing around the edges.

I printed the image onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured it with my Copics, and cut it out.  I also added some Yellow Shimmerz to the stripes and some Atyou Spica Glitter Pen to the middles of the flowers for some shine and sparkle.
That bunny looks like he's having a pretty great time in that egg car - I can feel the wind in his ears!
Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Ballerina Birthday

Hi All,

A girl at work asked me to make her a birthday card to give to her niece - she said she likes pink, and sparkly things...

My card base is Rose Red CS, followed by a layer of Whisper White, and Raspberry Tart DSP.  Across the bottom of that, I added a Whisper White strip punched with an SU edge punch, and then a Pretty In Pink strip.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in Versamark and embossed with White EP.

I added a bunch of pink rhinestones (from Michael's) to the punched edge, and also to the sides of the light pink piece.

For the main panel, I cut a piece of DSP with my oval Nesties, and matted that with a Rose Red piece and a scallop Whisper White piece.  I stamped Ballerina Anya in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured her with Copics, cut her out, and mounted her on with Dimensionals.  I coloured her Tiara with a pink Atyou Spica Glitter pen.  I also added some pink Stickles to her shoes, and to the middles of some of the flowers on the DSP for some added sparkle.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Club Anime Colour Challenge: Chick In Shell

Hi All,

For this month's Club Anime Colour Challenge, I decided to make a really fun and easy Gable Box!  I decided to showcase the Chick In Shell image - it kinda makes me laugh.  I just imagine that little chick on the inside if his shell talking to himself (and the voice is probably echoing off the inner walls!).

Here is the colour inspiration:

I took mostly the green from the photo, but added small amounts of yellow and purple to my project.  The base for my Gable Box is Certainly Celery CS, which was rolled with a Jumbo Dry Brush Wheel and Certainly Celery ink.  The handle was punched with the Wide Oval punch.  Then, there are 2 holes punched with my Crop-A-Dile, and I threaded Certainly Celery Poly Twill Ribbon through it.  Now, I know that Certainly Celery is not exactly the same green as the one in the picture, but I am taking the combo a little bit liberally (I don't have a heck of a lot of bright green around).

The rectangle panel is made up of Petals and Paisleys DSP, matted with Basic Black and Pale Plum CS.  I added 3 green Dew Drops to each side with Mini Glue Dots for some fun texture.

The chick was printed onto PTI White CS, coloured with Copics, and outlined with a Pale Plum marker.  I also sponged some Tempting Turquoise and Creamy Caramel ink, just to make a bit of a scene.  That was cut out with Oval Nesties, and matted onto a black oval.  It's such a cute doodly image - it was a fun one to just colour eratically - the chick looks slightly frazzled : )

Hope you enjoyed this simple and fun Easter project, and hop over the the Club Anime blog to see what the other girls have come up with!

Thanks for stopping by!

MTSC64: Some Odd Girl Ellie

Hi All,

I have made a card for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #64 this week.  Here is the sketch:

Here's my card:
My card base is Whisper White.  I stamped the sentiment from SU's Whimsical Words set in Versamark, and embossed with Dark Brown EP.  The large panel on the bottom is Close to Cocoa CS, punched with an EK Success edge punch, then a layer of Whisper White, then a layer of Berry Bliss DSP.  I added 3 large half-back pearls to the right side with Mini Glue Dots.

The smaller panel on top of that is the same DSP (pink piece), layered onto Whisper White, then onto another pink DSP piece.  On top of that layer, I attached some White Satin Ribbon.  The top panel is DSP, sponged around the edges with brown ink, matted with a layer of Whisper White, then a layer of Close to Cocoa.

Ellie the elephant was printed onto PTI White CS, coloured with Copics, cut out, and stuck on with Dimensionals.  I added some pink Martha Stewart glitter to her bow with a 2-Way Glue Pen.  For some reason, these critter images from Some Odd Girl mke me want to make a million baby cards!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday 128: Dino Momma and Baby

Hi All,

I am officially an Odd Girl!  I am now designing for the Some Odd Girl line of Stamps! I really love these digi images...they have really thick lines, and are perfect for colouring!

I chose to combine the Dino Momma and Baby image with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. Here is the sketch:

My card base is Old Olive CS, then a layer of Whisper White, and a layer of Basic Black. The top is a layer from the Taste of Textiles Specialty DSP pack.  The sentiment is from SU, and is stamped in Versamark and embossed with white EP in the top left corner.

The polka dot strip is actually some self-adhesive strips (bought at Michael's), with a staple at the right side.  I also added 2 strips of Twill tape, and a piece of Old Olive CS punched with the Martha Stewart grass edge punch.

I stamped the clouds background from Stamping Bella onto Whisper White CS with Bashful Blue ink and cut it out in a circle with Nesties.  I matted that onto a Basic Black circle.  I cut out a smaller circle of Old Olive CS and punched that with the Martha Stewart grass punch and adhered it to the cloud circle.  The image was printed onto PTI White CS, coloured with Copics, cut out, and mounted with Dimensionals.

Lastly, I added 3 brown Robin's Nest Dew Drops beside the circle with Mini Glue Dots.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

P.S. Some Odd Girl has been giving away a free digi image each month...head on over to download the free image for March: Spike the Monster.

Card Patterns Sketch 53: Eggtastic

Hi All,

Card Patterns is having their one-year anniversary, and has decided to celebrate it with another sketch and a little healthy competition!  I have decided to showcase an image from InStyle Stamps that will be released this Friday, March 5!

Here is the sketch:

Now, this sketch seemed like a pretty difficult one for me, for some reason, but I am up to the challenge!  And I wanted to use this great digi image!

I decided to stick with a couple of simple colours for my card.  My card base is Bermuda Bay, followed by Whisper White, then Basic Black.  The top layer is Apricot Appeal, which was embossed with my Paisley Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The 4 strips are Basic Black CS and Apricot Appeal prints DSP from SU, and I tied some Apricot grosgrain ribbon aroung that whole base layer, with a little knot of Linen Thread on top of that.

My image is called Eggtastic, and will be released at InStyle Stamps this Friday.  I printed it onto PTI white CS, coloured it with Copics, and cut it out with Label 3 Nesties.  I sponged some Bermuda Bay ink around the edges, and matted it with Basic Black CS.  The flowers are from Close To My Heart, and have SU brads in the middle.

Well, that's it for today...try your luck at the anniversary sketch, and remember to hop on over to InStyle Stamps this Friday to see what great new stuff is being released!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Club Anime Sketch: CAS7

Hi All,

I am so excited to post my first card as an official InStyle Stamps Design Team Member! I will be contributing for the 6 months from March through August!  I have fallen in love with their stamps, especially the anime ones!  Speaking of anime, they have a blog called Club Anime, which is devoted to that line of stamps. They often host sketch and colour challenges, and give away prizes!

Here is this week's Club Anime sketch:

I decided to go with a 5 1/4" square card for this one - I didn't feel like I would have enough room otherwise.  Since Easter is coming up, you know what theme you are going to see!

My card base is So Saffrom, followed by Whisper White, Basic Black, and Petals and Paisleys DSP.  I also added some photo corners with my Photo Corner punch in Black CS and DSP to the top right, and bottom left corners.  The 2 rectangle panels are also Whisper White, Basic Black, and DSP.  I added an "h" and an "e" to those panels - they are foam Thickers.  I hope you can guess what it stands for!  After all those layers were put together, I added some Tempting Turquoise Ribbon around the whole base.

Fo the main panel, I printed off Honey Bunny onto Neenah Solar White CS, and coloured her with Copics.  I actually printed her out a second time and cut her out, so I could use that as a mask.  I then cut the panel out with my Oval Nestabilities, and added the mask on top.  I sponged some Tempting Turquoise at the top for a cloudy sky, and some Old Olive at the bottom for grass.  I ended up stamping some random grass stamp at the bottom, and added some extra grass with my Old Olive marker.

Along the top and bottom are Robin's Nest Dew Drops, adhered with Mini Glue Dots.

Copics used:
