Flowers, Flowers, Everywhere

Hi All,

So, I have made 2 new samples. The first ones uses the upcoming Level 2 Hostess Set called Happiness Always. The yellow flowers attached to the corner of that panel are REAL. I bought them in a package at Michael's (or another craft store, can't remember). They are very fragile. When I went to attach them, some of the petals started to fall off : (

Oh well. The rest is very simple. I used the Scallop Edge Punch, as well as the new Tangerine Tango colour (my new Fave). The ribbon is the Chocolate Chip Poly-twill ribbon from the Occasions Mini Catalogue 2008. Just trying to use that stuff up. Not sure if they'll be bringing it back.

Recipe:
SS: Happiness Always
CS: Summer Sun, Creamy Caramel, Basic Black, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
Ink: Summer Sun, Creamy Caramel, Always Artichoke
Other: Chocolate Chip Poly-twill Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, Flowers

The second card uses some Stampin' Up! stuff, and a stamp set from Close to My Heart. The main flower panel is from Thoughts of You, which is a CTMH set. I stamped the base image in Real Red, then used markers to stamp the overlay with black and green, then added the leaves.

The background stamp is from SU, called Stitched. It is embossed in white. At the top, there is a border of circles, and a sentiment. Those are from a set from SU called Always. I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line them all up in a row, and I dabbed some Gunmetal Stickles onto the centres of each one.

The paper is DP from a Basic Grey collection called Scarlet's Letter. Soooo nice! The rest of the cardstock is SU.

Recipe:
SS: Thoughts of You (CTMH), Stitched (SU), Always (SU)
CS: Going Gray, Whisper White, Basic Grey
Ink: Real Red, Basic Black, Old Olive, Versamark
Other: White Emboss Powder, Real Red Brads, Ticket Corner Punch, Grey Taffeta Ribbon, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Stickles, Heat Tool

My Take on Colour Inspiration #17

OK all,

Here is my card for KWerner's Color Inspiration this week. You can see the inspiration photo in the post right before this. These colours are gorgeous! So, it's Rose Red, Regal Rose, Sage Shadow, and Whisper White. I really had to fight the urge to use black. Black always frames things so nicely, and makes things Pop. *Sigh*

Hope you like it. Give it a try!

Recipe:
SS: One of A Kind (one of my fave's)
CS: Rose Red, Whisper White, Regal Rose, Sage Shadow
Ink: Sage Shadow, Regal Rose, Rose Red
Other: Rose Red Button, Small and Large Oval Punches, Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware, Sponges, Photo Corner Punch, White Grosgrain Ribbon

New Catty Sneak Peek - 2 Cards

So, I received my goodie package from Mr. Brown a few days ago (UPS man), and he came bearing new catalogue products.

There was a new stamp set, 2 new hostess sets, a new Designer Paper pack, a new scallop punch, new buttons, and all the new In Colors for the next year. It is heaven in my craft room. I made a couple of projects with the new stuff.

The first one is a pocket card. VERY easy to do. You just need some Sticky Strip (or Scor Tape), and a scoring blade (or a Scor-Pal or a bone folder with a ruler).

I took my regular standard piece of cardstock for the base (11" x 4 1/2") and scored in the middle (5 1/2"), and then scored close to one of the ends (about 1 1/2"). Fold the card in half, and then fold the end strip out. You will put tape on the inside of the card, only along both sides, from top to bottom. Also, you will adhere that front strip down after you have decorated it.

You can decorate that however you'd like. I added some of the NEW Bella Rose Designer Paper to the outside, as well as some white ribbon. I stamped the flower from Fresh Cuts, once in Ridinghood Red, and once in Pink Pirouette, and cut them both out. I layered those on top of eachother. The brad in the centre is a silver brad. I covered it with a mini glue dot, and then smooshed that into some green Cosmo Glitter. That picked up the Kiwi Kiss colour quite well.
I also used the new Scallop Edge Punch to scallop 2 edges on the card. It is SOOOO easy to use. Finally!

For the inside card, I used some of the Designer paper with the Kiwi Kiss colour, and stamped it with some images from Fresh Cuts.

Recipe:

SS: Fresh Cuts

CS: Ridinghood Red, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP

Ink: Ridinghood Red, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss

Other: Scallop Edge Punch, White Grosgrain Ribbon, Corner Rounder Punch, Silver Brad, Mini Glue Dots, Cosmo Glitter, Sticky Strip

For the second card, I got my idea from Cambria's blog. She showcased this new Hostess set quite nicely, as well as the new In Colors. So, I CASE'd it!

Here is the link to the original:

http://cambriaturnbow.blogspot.com/2008/07/heard-from-heart.html

I did a simplified version of it, because I don't do all the sewing, but the idea is the same. Cambria is the queen!

The Tangerine Tango colour is my new favourite!!! It used to be Groovy Guava, but it's time to say goodbye to that one.

Recipe:

SS: Happiness Always

CS: Tangerine Tango, Basic Black, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP

Ink: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Ridinghood Red

Other: Button Bouquet, Black Gingham Ribbon, 3/4" Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Punch

Thanks for stopping by! I Can't wait until August 11 to place my new catty order!

CASE with Carte Postale

Hello all,

I CASE'd this idea from Caroline Lebel. I changed the colour scheme, but it is otherwise the same. I put Glassy Glaze Enamel on the middle square, so it looks like glass. I thought it was a GREAT way to showcase the set Carte Postale (retiring).

Recipe:
SS: Carte Postale
CS: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White
Ink: Blue Bayou, Versamark
Other: Pretties Kit (for the pearl), Glassy Glaze Enamel, Heat Tool, 1 3/8" Square Punch

I got the layout for this card from the Wednesday Sketch Challenge on SCS a couple weeks ago).
This is SC184. I thought the diamond look was very cute. I will be using this at my July stamp camp also. It is a great showcase for the Snowflake Spot set. It is an odd card, firstly, because we're making a winter card in July. Secondly, because it's pink. I also put Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on each panle with the 2-way Glue Pen.

Recipe:
SS: Snowflake Spot
CS: Purely Pomegranate, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose, Pale Plum
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Regal Rose, Pale Plum
Other: 2-way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

Thanks for stopping by!

2 New Stamp Camp cards

Hello again!

So, My next 2 cards are CASE'd from a couple that I saw when I was recently surfing. I decided that they were great layouts & colour schemes to use at my July Stamp Camp, and I had both of the stamp sets (and they are both retiring this year).

The first card uses the set Be Happy, and the Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper (DSP). The paper is no longer available, because it was in the mini catty that expired on June 30. But I still need to use up the paper, so there it was. The Gingham Ribbon is no longer available either, but needed to use it up, so I could move on.

The blue piece along the side is stamped with the swirls from the Itty Bitty Backgrounds set, which is also retiring.

Recipe:

SS: Be Happy, Itty Bitty Backgrounds

CS: Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Whisper White, Summer Picnic DSP

Ink: Real Red, Bashful Blue

Other: Red Gingham Ribbon, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Round Scallop Punch

Here is the link to the original, on Chat's blog:

http://memystampsandi.blogspot.com/2008/07/smile.html

This card was CASE'd from Mary Brown's original, but I couldn't find the link for that. The original card was square, and much larger, so I cut a couple things down to make it a standard size. The large green panel has been stamped with the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel (I use that for everything). I don't know yet if that wheel is reitiring, as they haven't released the accessories list.

Recipe:

SS: Wild Rose, So Swirly Jumbo Wheel

CS: Taken With Teal, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Basic Black

Ink: Taken With Teal, Certainly Celery

Other: Black Gingham Ribbon, Sponges

5-Petal Flower

So, I found a blog that shows you how to make this cool flower if you have a 5-Petal Flower Punch from Stampin' Up!

Here is the link:
http://rebelinker.blogspot.com/ and you look for the section called DIY, and you'll find it in there.

This thing makes you look more artistic than you really are, in my opinion.

On the Vanilla background piece, I did a grid with my Scor-Pal, then sponged and stamped. Those circles are from the set called So Much, which is retiring this year.

Recipe:

SS: So Much, Weathered
CS: River Rock, Going Gray, Very Vanilla
Ink: Going Gray, River Rock
Other: River Rock Double Stitched Ribbon, Scor-Pal, 5-Petal Flower Punch, Silber Brad, Sponge Daubers

I'm back!

OK, so I've been away for a really long time. Sorry about that. Here is my True Friend Card. I really like this stamp set for some reason. I've just seen soooo many great things done with it. For all the flowers in the background, I used markers. It was a little time-consuming, but worth it! I saw an original of this card somewhere, but I can't remember where.

The corner punch is from SU (retired), but I can't remember the name. I did faux stitching with my White Gel Pen. I wish I had a Vanilla-coloured one to match the cardstock, but oh well.
I have another card to post later, but I am off to work...

Recipe:
SS: True Friend, Warm Words (retiring)
CS: Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate, Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Ink: Rose Red and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers, White Gel Pen
Other: Small and Large Oval Punches, Designer Label Punch, Corner Punch (retired), Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

Thanks for stopping in!

*Added*
Oh yeah, I found it. The original is from Nancy Riley's blog found here:
