Purple Wedding

Hi All,

No challenges today - just an elegant card I made for a girl at work - she needed something, as she was attending a wedding this weekend.  It is an SUO card (Stampin' Up! only).  Except fot the edge punch (shhhhh).

She said they were having a Lilac/Purple theme, so I incorporated that colour with black and white.

My card base is Elegant Eggplant.  The next layer is Basic Black, with a Whisper White mat.  The white was punched with the Fleur de Lis EK Success punch.  I think that one is so striking! 
Next, I took a piece of Whisper White, and stamped it with my Bella Toile background stamp using Versamark, then embossed with black EP.  That was matted with an Almost Amethyst piece.  Around that base layer, I tied some white organdy ribbon, and added a hat pin from the Pretties kit with a bunch of beads and pearls.

For the sentiment, I cut a strip of Whisper White, and an Almost Amethyst mat, and I stamped Congratulations on with Basic Black ink.  I added 3 half-back pearls to that panel as well.

50th Anniversary Card, SU Style

Hi All,

My mom asked me to whip up an anniversary card for a 50th anniversary party she was attending.  I immediately thought of my Bride and Groom Specialty papers from Stampin' Up! 

My card base is Whisper White, then a layer of Basic Gray.  I added a layer of Groom Specialty DSP (the black, swirly one), with the bottom edge punched with a Martha Stewart edge punch, and a strip of white underneath.  Across that, I added some White Satin ribbon, with some self-adhesive ribbon across that.  I also added 3 silver brads to the left side of the panel.

I decorated the inside with the Groom DSP, Whisper White, and some more self-adhesive ribbon to match.

For the main panel, I took some Bride Specialty DSP (the swirly white one) and stamped the flowers from Upsy Daisy in Basic Gray ink.  Then, I stamped the sentiment from Whimsical Words in Versamark and embossed with silver EP.  I outlined the words with a white gel pen because the paper was so busy, I needed them to stand out a bit more.

For Ewe CASE

Hi All,

Another SU card - this time, I CASE'd it from Renee van Stralen - you can find her post HERE.  I used it because I thought it was a great way to show the Pun Fun set!

My card base is Whisper White, followed by a piece of Chocolate Chip, then a layer of Pink Pirouette, where I embossed the top part with SU's Snow Blossoms folder.
I stamped the sentiment "for you" in Chocolate Chip ink on that layer (it's from the Great Friend set).

For the horizontal strip, I punched a piece of Ruby Red CS with the Eyelet Border Punch, and topped it with a strip of Bella Rose DSP.

Then, I stamped the label image from the Great Friend set a bunch of times in Chocolate Chip ink onto Bella Rose DSP and Chocolate Chip and Ruby Red CS, and cut them out in various sizes and layered them.  I topped 2 of them with felt flowers (Fusion Too Accents and Elements tin) and SU buttons.

Finally, I stamped the sheep from Pun Fun onto white CS with black ink, coloured him with SU markers, cut him out, and layered him on with Dimensionals.

Mambo Always

Hi All,

Here is another SU card I made with the stamp set Always.  It is actually a CASE of a card on SCS by stampcrave, found HERE. 

My card base is Melon Mambo, followed by a piece of Very Vanilla, which is embossed with the Finial Press embossing folder.

The next panel is a piece of Very Vanilla rolled with my Swirls Jumbo Wheel in Blush Blossom ink, and sponged with Melon Mambo ink.  That was mounted onto a piece of Blush Blossom CS.

The heart from Always was inked up with Blush Blossom ink, then rolled in Melon Mambo ink, and stamped onto Very Vanilla CS.  I cut that out and wrapped some old pink SU ribbon aroung it and mounted it onto the panel.  I stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo ink onto Vanilla CS, and cut it out with the Word Window punch.  That was mounted onto a Melon Mambo piece punched with the Modern Label punch.

Plenty of Petals

Hi All,

I have been working on some simple cards with my Stampin' Up! stuff - it feels like it's been forever! I've been so bombarded by all the other things out there recently, I decided to go back to my "roots".

I actually made a card like this AGES ago, and I thought it turned out well, so I gave it another go.  My card base is Whisper White, and I couldn't find any Summer Sun CS, so I used some old Marigold Morning CS instead.  The top layer is Basic Black.  At the bottom of that, I stamped the sentiment from Wonderful Words in Versamark and embossed it with Winter White EP.

I used the SU stamp set Pick A Petal.  I stamped the line art petal in Basic Black ink onto 8 different patterns of the Pink Flamingo DSP.  I cut each petal out and stuck it to the black piece.  I also stamped the line art centre on a piece of white CS, cut it out, and sponged it with Blush Blossom and Cameo Coral inks, then stuck it to the centre of the flower.

Another {Jumbo} Baby Card

I made this for a girl at work who went on mat leave, so I got everyone to sign it before she left!

I made a jumbo card (ie. folded a full sheet of white CS in half), because I still had an extra large envelope from SU (before they decided not to make them any more). The next layer is Handsome Hunter, and the next layer is a piece of retired Wintergreen DSP. Do you ever wish that you picked up some extra packs of DSP before they were gone??? I could list a few where I regret not stocking up : ( Anywho, I punched the DSP layer and the Handsome Hunter layer with some EK Success edge punches - one large scallop, and one large double scallop.

There is a strip of the Wintergreen DSP across the middle with some White Organdy ribbon around it, and I used my Bow Easy to make the bow, and I attached it with Mini Glue Dots.

The sentiment is from the old set Word On Word (never letting that one go!). It was stamped in Handsome Hunter ink onto white CS, and layered onto Handsome Hunter CS.

The onesies are from the set By Ones and By Twos (one of my favourite baby sets). I stamped them onto the Wintergreen DSP layer 3 times in black ink. Then, I stamped them 3 more times onto scraps of DSP, cut them out, and mounted them with Dimensionals. Cause, who wants to try to cut out those hangers, right?

The letters are self-adhesive chipboard letters I bought from Michael's, and I covered them with Handsome Hunter ink.

Razzleberry Dasher - Stamp Camp Card 4

Hi All,
This is the final card I am posting from my November Stamp Camp. It uses the beloved Dasher stamp from the "Under $12" page at the back of the catty.

I used a Sponge Dauber to add Frost White Shimmer Paint to the stamp, and stamped it onto Rich Razzleberry CS. That was matted onto Whisper White, then onto Basic Gray CS.

The card base is Basic Gray, followed by a layer of Whisper White, and a layer of Rich Razzleberry that was embossed with the Finial Press embossing folder.

The strip at the bottom is a piece of Basic Grat DSP, sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink, and matted onto a piece of Basic Gray CS. The sentiment is from the set Happy Everything. I stamped Happy in Versamark and embossed with white EP. Next, I stamped Holidays in Rich Razzleberry ink onto a white scrap and punched it out with the Word Window punch, and adhered it below the Happy.

Pocket Silhouettes - Stamp Camp Card 3

I am posting another card from my November Stamp Camp! It uses the much loved Pocket Silhouettes stamp set - I love these four images.

Card base is Sage Shadow, followed by a layer of Chocolate Chip, then a layer of To The Nines DSP.

I used my Scallop Square punch to punch 4 squares out of Sage Shadow CS, and I sponged them with Chocolate Chip ink.

I punched 4 circles out of Chocolate Chip CS using my 1 3/8" Circle punch. I stamped the 4 silhouettes in Sage Shadow and Chocolate Chip ink on White CS, and punched them out with the 1 1/4" Circle punch. I also sponged those with their corresponding colours.

At the bottom, I stamped the sentiment from Wonderful Words in Chocolate Chip.

Bella Toile - Stamp Camp Card 2

Hi All,


This is another card we made at my November Stamp Camp. I think this one was my favourite - it just had a classy look about it.
I only used Very Vanilla and Basic Black - clean and simple! Card base is Vanilla, then a layer of Black CS. The front layer is Vanilla, stamped with the Bella Toile background stamp in Versamark, and embossed with black EP.

I added 2 Vanilla half-back pearls from the Pretties Kit with Glue Dots to the top right side.

I also used the wide Black Striped ribbon from SU across the bottom - I think these wide striped ribbons are the most eye-catching ones they have ever released!


I used the sentiment from Sincere Salutations in Basic Black ink, and punched it out with my Curly Label punch, and that was matted with another Curly Label Punch out of Black CS.

That's the whole story, and I think it came out as an effective card!

Let It Snow - Stamp Camp Card 1

Hi All,

Well, I thought I would post the first card we will be doing at my November Stamp Camp.

This card is actually a CASE of the one from the catalogue (I switched some of the papers, though). It uses the Big on Christmas stamp set - stamped in Basic Black ink onto Kraft CS. The 2 left corners were punched with the Corner Rounder. I watercoloured some shadow underneath with my Neutral Watercolour Wonder Cayons and my Aqua Painter. I stamped the snowman on a piece of white CS, coloured him with markers, cut him out, and mounted him with Dimensionals.

At the bottom of the Kraft piece, there is a piece of Real Red CS punched with the Scallop Edge punch.

The card base is Night of Navy CS, and I rolled the Jolly Wheel across the middle in Night of Navy ink (it's hard to see in the pic). Then, there is a strip of Old Olive CS, and at the bottom is a piece of DSP from the Christmas Cocoa pack (in the mini catty).

Verve Challenge Card #2

So, here is the next card for the Verve Release Week Challenges. I decided to give my SU stamps a bit of love this time. And maybe a bit of Stamping Bella for good measure. The sketches can be found over in the Verve forum on SCS HERE. Or I have included a look at the sketch here:

When I saw that little panel on the right side, I knew most people would want to put their sentiment there - it is just calling out for a sentiment. BUT...I wanted to do something different, so I decided to put my image there, just to be bad : )

I decided to keep this one VERY clean and simple.

The card base is Kraft CS, with a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" layer of Basic Black CS, then a 5 1/4" x 4" layer of Urban Oasis DSP. I absolutely LOVE these colours together!

The next layer is Urban Oasis DSP and Basic Black CS, but "tipped" until the corners of the smaller panel are touching the sides of the card base.

I think the main panel is 3" x 2", just white, and a black piece 1/8" larger. I stamped one of the flowers from 5th Avenue Floral onto Kraft CS in Basic Black ink twice. On one of the flowers, I coloured the middle with my White Gel Pen. I cut one of the flowers out completely, and I cut pieces out of the other flower to layer. Both were covered with Crystal Effects to buff up the shine.

The sentiment is from Stamping Bella, and it is my fall back sentiment - it works for EVERY card (except sympathy, of course).

I like the simplicity of this card - it is opposite to some of the cards I will be showing this week for the other challenges.

Wonderful Words, Set of 4

Hi All,

I decided I really wanted to use some of my self-adhesive Martha Stewart flowers that I got at Michaels. Hmmmmm.

So, I decided to do a set of 4 very simple cards. I only used a card base of Very Vanilla, and I created the frames using my square Nestabilities in my Big Shot.

For the Big Shot sandwich (from bottom to top), I used the Multi-purpose platform (on Tab 1), then my cutting plate, then my nestie (facing up), my card base, 3 pieces of scrap CS (A4 size), my silicone rubber mat, then my 2nd cutting plate. This is how I emboss with my Nesties without cutting.

I used the Wonderful words stamp set for all 4 cards - a different word for each card. I also used the Martha Stewart butterfly punch with a different colour CS for each card.

This card used Close to Cocoa ink and cardstock.

The next card uses Chocolate Chip ink and So Safron cardstock.

The next card uses Cameo Coral ink and cardstock.

The final card uses More Mustard ink and cardstock.

Bundle of Joy Shower Card

Hi All,

A girl at work asked me if I would make her a card for a baby shower she had to go to, and her friend was having a boy. I went over all of my baby stamp sets in my head, and decided on Bundle of Joy. Note: another cloudy day in Toronto, so the pics aren't very good.

My card base is Whisper White, then layered with Kraft, then with a piece of retired DSP from the Spring Showers pack. The last 2 layers were punched with my Ticket Corner Punch, and I tied a piece of striped Bashful Blue ribbon around them.

At the bottom, I decided to go with a button overload - I tied Linen Thread through the holes of 6 buttons, and stuck them at the bottom in a row with Mini Glue Dots. I thought it added a cute childish look.

For the main panel, I took a piece of Whisper White CS, and stamped the bear from Bundle of Joy in Memento ink. Then, I masked that bear, and stamped the giraffe in the same ink, so it looks like the giraffe is behind the bear.

I coloured them both with my Copic markers. I sponged some Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery inks around the outside of the panel, and attached it to a piece of Chocolate Chip CS.

The sentiment is from the By Ones & By Twos stamp set (the original sentiment is Congratulations "squared", but I rubbed the ink off of the number 2). It was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on white CS, and punched out with my Word Window Punch. I smeared some brown ink around the outside of that to make it stand out a bit more as well.

Another Unlikely Christmas Card

Hi All,

I really wanted to use my Season of Joy stamp set, so when I saw THIS card on SplitCoast, I wanted to CASE it. I didn't add ribbon, but the rest of it is similar.

I used markers for the main stamp on Very Vanilla CS, and put a Vintage brad through the letter "O". I matted that onto Pumpkin Pie, and then Close to Cocoa CS.

The card base is Close to Cocoa, then mounted with a Very Vanilla piece of CS, which was sponged with Pumpkin Pie ink. I stamped the swirls on top of that.

On the bottom half, I used up some retired DSP called Apple Cider.

Silver Treat Cup Christmas

Hello All,

The next card is another one we did at my September stamp camp. I wanted to use the treat cups and the Sweet Centers stamp set.

So, the clear choice was to use the stamp that will end up as an ornament, right?

I chose the base to be Whisper White CS, then a layer of Basic Black, and a layer of Brushed Silver (LOVE that paper!). Around the last 2 layers, I tied a heap of the black & white striped ribbon in a knot, and attached to the base with Dimensionals. I don't know about you, but I feel like this ribbon is STUNNING.

Anyway, the main panel is the same 3 colours of CS. On the white layer, I stamped the ornament top in Silver Encore ink. Then, the hole was made with the 1 3/4" circle punch. Inside the treat cup, I decided not to put treats at all! I filled it with faux snow, sparkley stuff, and little silver stars.

I realy want to put treats inside the cups, but I just don't like the idea of someone having to rip apart your card so they can get at it - has anyone found a solution to this problem? Otherwise, I think it is a really cute idea.

The Colour of Christmas?...Suede!

I decided to get out my new Rub-Ons from the Holiday Mini catalogue and play. For some reason, lately, I am into doing Christmas cards that aren't the norm. For this card, it was all about neutral, and I got to throw in one of the new In Colors for this year: Soft Suede.

Surprisingly, not much stamping on this card. My card base is Soft Suede CS, then layered with Whisper White CS, then layered with Kraft CS. Then, there is a piece of Whisper White at the bottom that I punched with one of the Martha Stewart edge punches (LOVE those). It ended up being mostly covered because the main panel was so big, but I left it there anyway. I sponged the Kraft layer and the white layer with Soft Suede ink.

I then tied some Soft Suede Polka Dot ribbon in a knot around that base panel. It adds a cute little touch.

The sentiment is actually from a Verve Christmas set I have, punched out of white CS with my Word Window Punch. That was layered onto Kraft CS which was punched out using the Large Oval punch, then layered onto a piece of Soft Suede CS, which was made using my Big Shot and one of my tags Sizzlet dies.

For the main panel, I used the big snowflake from the Icicles Rub-Ons pack from the Holiday Mini in silver. That was stuck onto a piece of Kraft CS and sponged with Soft Suede ink. I coloured some parts of the snowflake in with my Versamarker, and also outlined the snowflake with that (that is why some parts are darker).

That panel was layered onto a white piece, then onto a Suede piece. Almost everything was put onto Dimensionals to adhere.

Unlikely Christmas Colours

I received my order from the Holiday Mini catalogue, so I thought I'd better break some of the products in!

I chose a very unlikely set of holiday colours for this: Bermuda Bay, More Mustard, and Sahara Sand. I actually really like the finished product!

My card base is a half sheet of Sahara Sand CS folded in half. The next layer is Bermuda Bay CS, punched with a snowflake edge punch from Martha Stewart. It partially embosses too, but it doesn't show up quite as well on the cardstock because it is thicker than regular paper.

My main layer starts out with a piece of Whisper White CS. The flourish from Season of Joy was stamped in the top right corner with More Mustard ink, and that corner was paper pierced.

At the bottom, a strip of Sahara Sand was added, and below that, a strip of More Mustard, which was rolled with the Jolly wheel in More Mustard ink.

The polka-dot Bermuda Bay ribbon was tied around the main panel.

I used the new Ornament Punch from SU's Holiday Mini catty for the 3 ornaments. The 2 ornaments on the outside are stamps from the new Delightful Decorations stamp set, both on Whisper White CS. The left one was stamped in More Mustard ink and punched out. The right one was inked up with Versamark, and Sahara Sand ink, then stamped, and embossed with Clear EP, and punched out. The middle ornament is a rub-on from the Merry & Bright pack on Bermuda Bay CS, and punched out.

Almost all of the layers were mounted with Dimensionals.

Snow Bursts CASE

I saw this card on SCS and decided I wanted to do a simpler version of it. I used the retired Snow Burst set and the Punches Three set.




I used Kraft CS for the card base, then the Chocolate Chip layer and Brushed Gold layer are matted with Whisper White CS. The Brushed Gold layer is stamped with the snowflake images in Whisper White Craft, Chocolate Chip and Encore Gold inks.





The emblem is punched out with my scallop square punch, ad mounted on Dimensionals. I tied Chocolate Chip felt ribbon around the top layer.

Father's Day gift idea

Hi All!

Well, if you haven't been over to Papertrey Ink's Timeless Templates page, you must go! I have purchased a few of these templates now, and they are just fantastic! They are so easy to put together, and they are only $5 each - but you can use them over and over because you are downloading the file to your computer!

I decided to make this little "box", which is the From The Desk Of template. I see sooooo many uses for this.

I know Father's Day is a little ways off, but I thought I would get started anyway. I like them so much, I might make more for some other occasions coming up too!

My main box is made with Kraft CS, and I decorated it with some retired DSP from SU. I thought the argyle was manly, so why not?

I used some retired True Thyme ribbon from a couple years ago (still trying to get rid of that stuff), and some black Foam Thickers from American Crafts for the letters.

Now, what to put in it? I might go to Bulk Barn and buy some of his favourite treats, and fill the box with those, but that won't be until much closer to the date.

Here is the moment where you all feel sorry for me. All I try to do on the weekend is take some decent pictures using the natural sunlight. Sheesh!

Oval All CASE

This is the final card from my class this month. I wanted to showcase the Oval All stamp set, Scallop Oval Punh, and the Walk In The ark DSP, all from the Occasions Mini. So, I found THIS card on Beate's blog, and thought it would be good one - nice & cheerful.

The base is Basic Black, then layered with the Walk In The Park DSP, the a Whisper White strip, punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. I wrapped the Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain ribbon around that layer.

The next panel has a Basic Black piece, then a Whisper White layer, then another piece from the Walk In The Park DSP. I punched 3 black flowers out with my Trio Flower Punch, and pierced them with Vintage brads.

Finally, I stamped one of the stamps from Oval All in Basic Black, and coloured it with my Aqua Painter and ink pad lids. I stamped another one on a scrap, coloured in the big flower, cut it out, and stuck it lightly onto the main oval. Then, I stuck that onto a black scalloped oval. I pierced it, and put a Rhinestone brad in the centre.
