SOG Stash Challenge 6: Ribbons and Rub-ons

Hi All,

Thanks for dropping by to peek at the 6th Stash Challenge from the Some Odd Girl blog!  This week, our challenge is to use ribbons and rub-ons - HOW FUN?!?!  We have now split our massive DT in 2 teams, and I am Team Stash, so here we go!

We are also using this challenge to celebrate our awesome release on August 10 - you can pick up your images at the Some Odd Girl shop HERE.  There's something for everyone!

I chose to showcase the lovely Balloon Kaylee.  She's perfect for any birthday or other celebration, and the SOG images are so great for colouring, you can match them with any patterned papers!

My card base is Kraft CS, and I have also used Handsome Hunter, Whisper White, and Manchester DSP from SU.  I used the Ticket Corner Punch on all of the panels and mats.  On the large piece of DSP, I added a lot of sponging with some Soft Suede ink to dull it a bit.  I wanted the card to be on the neutral side...ahhhh, nice and relaxing.  I used 3 pieces of Soft Suede polka dot ribbon tied in knots width-wise.  The sentiment is a rub-on from SU - "BIRTHDAYS are the best!".

I printed the adorable Kaylee onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured her with Copics, cut her out with a small white border around, and mounted her on with Dimensionals.

InStyle Stamps: Inspiration Challenge

Well, this is our second Inspiration challenge over at the ISS blog (replacing the Over the Hump Day Blog Candy Giveaway)!  This month, Taylor chose an adorable nursery picture for us to use as inspiration.  Taylor got this modern-looking nursery picture from Room Decorating Ideas:

Really cute, right?  I'm sure everyone's first instinct is to make a baby card...I went with a gift box for a guy instead.  I took the blues and the browns for my project, and instead of the crib, I added a white fence.  But, you can use this picture any way you like - you can use the colours, the theme, the elements in the picture can inspire a layout - anything!

Here is my creation:

I made this box, which I found on Nicole Heady's blog a while back (can't remember the exact post, though).  I also gave the tutorial and measurements this past Monday from the ISS Method Monday post - it's really quick, and only uses one sheet of cardstock, with some other paper scraps!  My box is made of Soft Suede CS, and I used Sticky Strip to put it together.  I also used some Blue Bayou Prints DSP for some added layers, and I stuck some Soft Suede polka dot ribbon around the box as well.  The white strip at the back is Whisper White CS, punched with my Martha Stewart fence edge punch, and the letters are white foam Thickers.

I printed Jax onto PTI White CS, coloured him with Copics, and cut him out. Stuck him on with the usual Dimensionals too.  I used the digi Jax, but if you prefer the feel of succulent, red rubbah in your hands, you can get him as a stamp HERE too!

Buds Birthday

Hi all,

I made this card for my niece's birthday - it is coming up next month.  She is about to turn 2, and they have a big dog named Baron (Chocolate Lab).  My image is called Buds from Mo's Digital Pencil.  Here it is:

How adorable is she???  I wish I was that size...I wanna sleep on top of a dog!

I went with a really simple layout - I wanted the image to be in the spotlight!  My card base is Whisper White, and I added some button embossing with a Cuttlebug folder.  I also wrapped some yellow satin ribbon around the base, and I attached a bow which I made with my Bow Easy.

I printed the image onto Bella's Bestest cardstock, and coloured her with Prismacolour pencils.  I stamped the sentiment (from Stamping Bella) at the top using my Stamp-a-ma-jig...lots of effort, can you tell???  I added a Basic Black mat behind that.

I think they will like it - what do you think?

Bellarific Friday: Paper Piecing

Well, I decided to throw in a creation to participate in this week's Bellarific Friday at the Stamping Bella blog!  They challenged us to use some paper piecing on our project.  Shouldn't be toooooo difficult, right?

I used the completely adorable image called Izzie Has A Brelly by Christy Croll.  At first, I hadn't noticed these images, but then I saw what some of the Bella Babes were doing with them, and I was sold!

My DSP is from SU's Porcelain Prints pack, and I used Whisper White, Basic Black, and Basic Gray CS.  I also added some white zig-zag stitching around the base layer.  The ribbon is some Blue Bayou double stitched ribbon from SU.  The sentiment is also from the Bella store, but it came with another image - I thought it went well with the whole rainy/umbrella thing!  It was stamped with black ink, and punched out with a Word Window punch.  I added a white flower to the left side, which I folded in half.  I also added some glitter spots above the umbrella - it kinda looks like magic raining down on her.

I stamped Izzie onto Bella's Bestest cardstock, and coloured her with Prismacolour pencils.  The paper piecing is on her dress - I used some Blue Bayou Prints DSP...the one with the white flowers on it.

InStyle Stamps Sketch Challenge 12

Thanks for stopping in today to play with the ISS DT on this month's sketch challenge!  Here is the amazing sketch we got to play with this time, courtesy of Taylor:

Now, there's a catch!  The card has to be an easel card!  Now these types of cards are really easy to make - if you don't know how, head over to THIS tutorial on SCS.

InStyle Stamps will also be having a release this month - the image I'm using will be released on August 20, so you're getting a sneak peek!  I am using Hanna, and she is an adorable little hippo!  Here it is:

I used mainly Whisper White and Basic Black CS, and I threw in some Black Orchid DSP by SEI.  For the border, I used the Martha Stewart crown punch, and I added some miscellaneous rhinestones to the DSP.  I also used a Label One Nesty for the middle panel.

I printed Hanna onto PTI White CS twice, and coloured her with Copics.  I cut one out with Square Nesties, and sponged the background on, and cut the other one out, and mounted it on top with Dimensionals.  I added some Crystal Effects to the eyes for some gloss.

SOG - New DT Day!

Well, it's a brand new month, and Kristy has stocked her design team for the next little while!  We are celebrating the beginning of August with a bunch of new projects from the new DT!

For my project, I chose to showcase some new releases - Coffee Mae and Coffee Kaylee!  I chose to go with a big square card so I could fit all their wonderful goodness onto the base.

Here it is:

My card base is Baja Breeze, followed by a piece of Urban Oasis DSP (polka dots) with a Basic Black mat.  Next, I added 2 strips of black DSP with a black mat.  On top of that, I added a piece of the green DSP, matted with Basic Black and Whisper White.  On the green piece, I stamped my sentiment from Kraftin' Kimmie in black ink - "Caffeine...a Girl's Best Friend".

I printed the 2 ladies and the table onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured them with Copics, cut them out, and mounted them on with Dimensionals.  Whether you and your girlfriend go out for coffee or tea, these images are perfect!  They were really a blast to colour too!

Preview of Flyin' High Mae

I am giving you a peek of the next SOG release - Kristy has a whole set of awesome images coming out on August 10, and you will also see a whole lineup of DT projects using those images for our Stash Challenge on August 12.  For now, I took out one of the images to play with.

I am entering challenges at these blogs:

C.R.A.F.T. - To use hot and spicy colours...well, that's selfexplanatory.  I used a lot of yellow, green, and red on my card (and threw in some blue, just to even things out).

CAS-tastic - To use bling...I used some Atyou Spica Glitter pens on her eyes and the kite bows; I used some big rhinestones; and I sprayed the whole card with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

Crafty Creations - Anything summer...well, if you can't fly kites in the summer, when CAN you fly kites? LOL

Crazy For Challenges - A sketch:

Here it is (get ready, it's a busy one):

My card base is More Mustard, and I've also used Real Red, Basic Black, and Whisper White CS.  The DSP is from the East Coast Prep pack.  I've also added some Wild Wasabi striped ribbon across the bottom strip, and some miscellaneous rhinestones to the right side.  The sentiment is an SU rub-on, and it's punched out with my Word Window Punch.  The red oval was done with Nesites.

I printed Flyin High Mae (Will be released at Some Odd Girl on August 10!) onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured her with Copics, and cut her out to layer onto the oval.  These images are larger than life, and I love to colour them!!! Have I mentioned that before?

Thanks for stopping by today - I have one last Christmas card to show you for the month, as our theme this month was holidays! 

My card base is Whisper White, then a layer of Basic Black, then Marigold Morning, then white again, and that was embossed with my Snowflakes Cuttlebug folder.  I added a strip of Close to Cocoa CS, punched with my Martha Stewart gingerbread man edge punch.  The sentiment is an SU rub-on, put onto Basic Black CS, and punched out with my 1 3/4" circle punch.

The image is one of the A Day In The Life series (love those images!), called Santa's Knee.  I printed that onto PTI White CS - I like to use that cardstock for images with a lot of small details so that my Copics are less likely to bleed all over the place. I coloured the image with Copics, and it was matted onto Basic Black.

I made a scrap page!  I chose the adorable Solise image for my project - I can't tell you how much I love these anime images!  For the entire project, I used cardstock, designer papers, and stickers from an old SU Simply Scrappin' Kit (Winter something?).  I just love the colours - Pretty In Pink, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, So Saffron.  I also added an icicle border with Whisper White CS and my Martha Stewart edge punch.  The picture is of my twin nieces - it was a sort of Christmas card I got in the mail that year to commemorate their first Christmas.

I printed Solise onto PTI White CS, coloured her with Copics, and cut out the panel.  I added some Bashful Blue ink around the edges, and layered it onto another Whisper White piece.

Some Odd Girl: Style Challenge 5

Thanks for stopping in again this week for the Some Odd Girl challenge on the SOG BLOG!  This week, we are being challenged to use a statement that is a pun on our card.  This was a really fun challenge, and your brain really starts working - you might even give yourself a laugh trying to dream something up!  I know all the ODDies had a blast with this!

Here is mine:

My card base is Whisper White CS, followed by a Basic Gray piece, and another Whisper White piece.  I stamped my sentiment in Basic Black and Old Olive inks with a Close To My Heart alphabet on the white piece.  I also took some Old Olive CS, and punched it with my Martha Stewart grass edge punch. The smaller grass piece is mounted on with Dimensionals.  I cut out some random black patches with Basic Black CS, and stuck them more towards the right side of the card. 

I printed Mooey from Some Odd Girl out onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured him with Copics, cut him out, and mounted him on with Dimensionals.  I also added some Crystal Effects to his eyes for some gloss.  This adorable image was just released this week - you should definitely head over to the store to check out the new releases!!!

SOG Teams Up With Fab 'n' Funky!

Thanks for stopping by - this week, Some Odd Girl is sponsoring the challenge over on the Fab 'n' Funky blog!  Their challenge this week is to incorporate bows and buttons!  Now, this one is right up my alley!  I decided to use the adorable SOG freebie for this month, Tiny Tia.

Here is mine:

My card base is Baja Breeze, then a layer of Hand Drawn DSP with a Basic Black mat.  On top of that, I cut out another piece from the same DSP pack (with cakes and stuff on it) using my Top Note die in my Big Shot.  I cut out the perforated layer around it, and layered that onto a black piece of CS with the same die.  I added some Whisper White satin ribbon around the base layer, and then added a bow, which I tied with my Bow Easy.  I also added 3 Baja Breeze flower buttons to the lower left corner with Mini Glue Dots. 

I printed Tia onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured her with Copics, cut out the panel, and matted it with Basic Black.

New Release at Some Odd Girl!!!

SOG Teams Up With Card Patterns!

Some Odd Girl is sponsoring this week's Card Patterns Sketch #74!  This is so much fun and 2 of us Oddies got to participate as well!
Here is the sketch:

Here's my version:

My card base is Pretty In Pink CS, and all my DSP is from the SU Petals & Paisley pack.  The next layer is DSP, matted with Whisper White and Basic Black, and I added some zig-zag stitching around it with my Janome Sew Mini.

The panel across the bottom is DSP, Basic Black, and Whisper White, which was punched with my Martha Stewart fence edge punch.  The panel across the top is just a white piece with a black mat with stitching, and underneath is a piece of twill.  The 3 buttons on the left are threaded with Linen Thread, and attached with Mini Glue Dots. The sentiment is an SU rub-on, cut out with a Modern Label Punch.

My image is called Nana Split - from Some Odd Girl!  I printed it onto PTI White CS twice, coloured them with Copics, and cut them out.  The second image I used for layering.  I also added some red Stickles to the cherry for some sparkle.  The panel behind the split is Rectangle Nesties with white CS, and a black mat.  I added some sponging to the white rectangle with Pretty In Pink and Regal Rose inks.  I added 3 more butons to the right side, and some stitching to that panel.

O Christmas Tree!

Well, as you may know, InStyle Stamps had a HUGE release week this week (on the 16th)!  They released so many fun and cool images - if you haven't been to the store, you MUST go!  AND, this month is holiday month for the DT, so we got to make all kinds of Fall, Hallowe'en, Christmas cards, and more!

Have I mentioned how much I love the images from the A Day In The Life (ADIL) series?  They use the anime-type characters, but they all have a beautiful scene, and they are so much fun to colour!  By the time you are finished, it looks like a masterpiece!

Here is my card:

My card base is Always Artichoke CS, followed by a Whisper White piece with a Basic Black mat.  The white piece was embossed with my Snowflakes Cuttlebug folder through my Big Shot.  The sentiment is an SU rub-on, using Handsome Hunter CS, and the corners were cut using my Ticket Corner Punch.

The image O Christmas Tree was printed onto PTI White CS, coloured with Copics, cut out, and matted with black CS.  The image really allows you to get colourful and fun because of all the different elements in there.

Birthday Blog Hop at InStyle Stamps

Hi All!

It is a very special day for the ISS DT - it's our owner Virginia's birthday!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  The massive DT for this company has put together a hop where we all made a tag with a certain letter, and as you hop along, you will decipher the message!  You should have arrived here from the letter "P", but if you didn't, please head back to the ISS Blog to start at the beginning!

Here's my tag:

My base is Whisper White, followed by a layer of Sweet Slumber DSP, and a Basic Black mat.  I punched a hole at the top with my Horizontal Slot Punch and added some So Saffron ribbon and Linen Thread.  I took a huge "Y" chipboard letter from Close To My Heart, and covered it with red ink, and adhered it to the tag. 

I printed the adorable Eula onto PTI White CS twice, coloured her with Copics, and cut her out.  I used the colorful balloon section from the second image so that it could be layered.  For my final touches, I added a bunch of buttons all around from different button packs.

We are also each giving Virginia a virtual travel itinerary, where we tell her where we would take her if she were in our town!  Well, Virginia, if you came to Toronto, Canada, there are so many things we could do!  We would definitely go to the top of the CN Tower to check out the best view in the city, and I would have to take you to the Eaton Centre, which is one of the biggest malls in Canada!  We would also go to the Air Canada Centre to check out a sports event or a concert, and we would definitely have to ride the subway!

Since this is a Birthday Blog Hop, we can't leave you without a chance at a party prize! So here are the rules.

InStyle Stamps: Jack-O-Lanterns

Hi All,

I am showcasing a really fun image from InStyle Stamps today which was part of a huge release from Friday, the 16th!  It is called Fence O'Lanterns, and I think it is really spooky and fun!  You can also check out the whole slew of posts on the ISS blog to see DT cards for every single image that was released - it has been quite a week for us!

Here it is:

My card base is Tangerine Tango, followed by some shiny Rockabilly DSP with a Whisper White mat, and all of the corners are punch with a ticket corner punch.  The next large panel on the right is a skull piece from the same DSP pack, matted with Tangerine Tango, and corners punched.  I added 3 Mustard-coloured eyelets to the right side using my Crop-A-Dile (that thing sets eyelets like buttah!).  Now, it's hard to see (I should have chosen a different colour of CS), but I took a strip of black and a strip of white, and punched them with a Martha Stewart punch that has rats and tombstones on it, and attached it to the bottom of that panel, then tied some Tangerine Tango ribbon around it.

I printed the pumpkins onto PTI White CS, coloured them in with Copics, and matted that image onto a Basic Black piece.  They were REALLY fun to colour - I highly recommend it!

Friday Challenge: Anything Goes

Hi All!

Today is the last TTS post for the summer!  We are taking a hiatus, and we will be back in FULL force on September 10!  So for our last challenge Friday, it was anything goes!  We are all showcasing whatever we wanted, and it was a blast!

I chose Posy from Kraftin' Kimmie, and I paired her with some Rockabilly DSP with cherries on it!  I stamped Posy in Memento ink onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured her with Copics, and cut her out with Label 4 Nesties!  I added some sponging to the image panel with Kiwi Kiss ink as well.

Some Odd Girl Stash Challenge 5: Stripes, Dots, and a Big Title

Today we are playing along with the 5th Stash Challenge with the Some Odd Girl Challenge blog!  I love these challenges...they happen every 2 weeks.  This week, we have been challenged to use Stripes, Dots, and a large title!  I thought this was a really fun one.  I combined Hip Kody (newly released!) with my To The Nines Specialty DSP. 

Here he is:

My card base is Close to Cocoa CS. followed by the striped DSP, and a Basic Black mat.  I added 3 black brads to the left side for some interest.  The horizontal strip is some dotted DSP with a black mat, and both were punched with a scallop border punch from EK Success.  I wrapped some Polka Dot Soft Suede ribbon around that layer.  The title "Dude" was added to the right side with some foam Thickers!  Big enough for ya?

Hip Kody (from Some Odd Girl) was printed onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured with Copics, and cut out. The great thing about these images are that the lines and spaces are so large, it makes cutting them out a jiff!  I mounted him in between the brads and the title with Dimensionals.

InStyle Stamps: Inspiration Challenge

Welcome to the first Inspiration challenge with the InStyle Stamps blog!  This challenge will be replacing the Over The Hump Day Blog Candy Giveaway that we did every month.  I think you'll agree that the new name is much easier to say!
As you know, July is the month for holiday projects, and for this challenge, our theme was Hallowe'en!  This is such a fun holiday, but it's hard sometimes to imagine why you would give someone a Hallowe'en card.  For my project, I decided to make a bookmark instead.  I read a lot, as you can probably tell.

Here she is:

My bookmark base is some shiny green DSP from SU's Rockabilly pack, and I cut that out with my Blossom Nestabilities.  I also cut out a smaller black piece from the same DSP pack and adhered that.  I took a piece of Kraft CS, and punched the egde with a Martha Stewart fence punch, and then sewed it onto the base with my Janome Sew Mini. 

I printed Witchy Chloe from ISS onto PTI White CS, coloured her in with Copics, and cut out the panel with Curved Rectangle Nesties.  I printed her a second time so that I could colour her pants and the broom to cut them out and layer them on with Dimensionals.  I also added a bunch of bats in the background with a black pencil crayon - makes it a little spookier.
