My Sample for KWerner's 20th Challenge

I whipped up my sample for Kristina's Colour Challenge #20 (you can see it in the post before this one). The colours were Chocolate Chip (I know, you're thinking, "Winner already"), Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, and Very Vanilla.

Love these colours together. Another hit for her! Here goes:

The card base is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Pink Pirouette folded in half.

The next layer is a 1/8" piece smaller piece of Chocolate Chip CS. For the next layer, I had 2 panels. The first one is a 5 1/4" x 2" piece of Regal Rose, which was run through my Cuttlebug with the new Argyle emboss folder. The second is a 5" x 1 3/4" piece of Certainly Celery run through the Cuttlebug with the new Forrest BRanches emboss folder. I stuck the 2 embossed layers to the brown layer with Dimensionals, and then wrapped a piece of Satin Chocolate Chip Ribbon around it, and stuck it to the card base.

For the sentiment, I used one from A Little Birdie Told Me, and cut it out with the My Way Punch on Very Vanilla CS. I punched out another arrow in Chocolate CS, and layered it underneath the first arrow. I stuck that to the card with Dimensionals.

For the main image, I cut out an oval with my Nesabilities and my Cuttlebug. I stamped the flower from Bloomin' Beautiful in Black Staz On ink, and watercoloured with my Aqua Painter and my Regal Rose and Certainly Celery ink pad lids. I drew a gray outline around it with my BV23 Copic marker to make it POP. Next I layered that onto a larger oval in Pink Pirouette, and then finally on a scalloped oval in Chocolate Chip. I added some Platinum Liquid Pearls to every other scallop for some interest.

Kristina's 20th Colour Inspiration Challenge

Well, here is yet another Colour Challenge from Kristina Werner...YAY! She always does such a great job, and I don't know how she has time to do all this extra stuff. Anyway, I'm really gonna like this one. I enjoy anything with brown, really.
Colours are: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette (new In Color), Certainly Celery, and Very Vanilla. I will be posting my card as soon as I can!

(Early) Christmas Card

Hi All,

So, this is my all-time favourite Christmas set. It's called Holiday Lineup, and it's soooo cute! This was a late-night concoction, so this picture has no daylight. I'll try to take one in the morning, all though I don't know how much daylight there is at 6:30am. I feel like I might want to submit this to SU for one of their contests. We'll see...

Here she goes:

I stamped the reindeer on watercolour paper in Timber Brown Staz On ink, and watercoloured that with my Stampin' Write Markers and my Aqua Painter. Then, I ripped it (about 2 1/2" x 4"). I mounted that on a distressed piece of Holiday Treasures DSP sized at 4 1/4" x 2 3/4". And then onto an 1/8" larger piece of Baja Breeze CS. I wrapped the new Double Stitched Baja Breeze Ribbon around that.

The card base is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Chocolate Chip folded in half. Then, there's a piece of distressed Baja Breeze CS sized at 5 1/4" x 4". I used the new Jolly wheel along the bottom of that, which I heat embossed with Clear EP. The next layer is another piece of the Holiday Treasures DSP sized at 5" x 3". I cut a strip of the Baja Breeze Ribbon, and cut a "V" in each end, and stuck it onto those layers.

I mounted the main panel onto the base layers with Dimensionals. Oh yeah, there is some Crystal Effects on his nose for some added texture. The sentiment is from Loads of Love, and it says Holiday Cheer. I thought it was cute beacuse if you look at the image, I guesss it's meant to be sarcastic. I stamped the sentiment in black onto Very Vanilla CS, and punched that out with my Word Window Punch. I layered that onto another Word Window, punched out of Chocolate Chip CS.

Chandelier Silhouette

I bought the stamp set Grand Soiree. It's the new one with the chandelier from SU!. I LOVE that image.



I decided that I would use my new Urban Garden DSP as well.

The card base is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Night of Navy folded in half. I stamped that with the Floral background in Whisper White Craft ink. I heat set that a bit and let it dry.

The strips on the side are the Urban DSP. They are at 5 1/2" x 1" and 5 1/2" x 1 1/2" (one is just the reverse side of the other one). I love that SU designer papers are double-sided!

The main panel is a 3" x 4" piece of Whisper White CS. I stamped the image with Night of Navy ink and let it dry. I used my 2-Way Glue Pen to add glue to some of the spots on the chandelier, and then added the blue glitter from the Cosmo Glitter pack from SU. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black ink at the top.

I stuck that to a 1/4" larger piece of Basic Black CS, and another 1/8" larger piece of Kiwi Kiss CS (sponged with Night of Navy).

I used my Mat Pack and paper piercer to add the row of Circle Rhinestone brads (the Ice pack), and then adhered that to the main card with dimensionals.

CC180 & SC190 SCS Challenges!

Here is the card I made this afternoon for the Sketch and Colour Challenges from this week over at SCS.





The Colour Challenge #180 asked us to use Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red, and Blush Blossom.

The Sketch Challenge #190 asked us to use those 2 diagonal/triangle panels, with the circle in the middle.








I made a 5 1/4" square card from Blush Blossom CS.


Then, I cut a 4 3/4" square piece each of Blush Blossom and Close to Cocoa. I cut those on their diagonal to get 2 triangles. I put half aside (because you only use 1 triangle of each colour). On the brown half, I used my Pretty Petals BG stamp and Cocoa ink. On the Blush half, I used my Twill BG stamp with Coca ink. I sponged both with Cocoa ink.

I then adhered those 2 to a 5" square piece of Ruby Red CS.



For the circle, I used my Classic and Scallop Circle Nestabilities and my Cuttlebug. The smallest piece is Glossy White CS. I stamped the daisy from Inspired By Nature (my new favourite set) in Versamark, and embossed it with white EP. Then, I sponged Cocoa, Ruby and Blush all around it. I adhered that to a larger circle of Blush Blossom CS, and then a larger scallop circle piece of Cocoa CS.

I did SOME paper piercing around the Blush piece, then used my 1/8" Handheld Circle Punch for the holes in the scallops. I used the Slot punch on each side of the circle, then threaded some white grosgrain ribbon through the holes. I secured it with the new Filigree Designer brads on either side and wrapped it around the back of the red sqaure.

I stuck that to the card base with Dimensionals. For the sentiment, I used "For You" from One of A Kind on white CS, and punched that out with my Word Window Punch. I punched a Large Oval out of Blush CS, and a Designer Label out of white CS (and sponged that with Ruby Red ink).

Whew! What a nouth-ful!

Commissioned Piece

So my sister asked me to make her something that could hold 3 CDs, because she would be making CDs for her friend that just had a baby. She wanted the CD case to BE the card as well.

Here's what I came up with. I used some scraps from the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit (retired).



I pulled an On Board Simon Lower chipboard letter, covered it with Versamark, Heat & Stick Powder, and heated it. Then I covered it with the Green Glitter from the Cosmo Glitter pack from Stampin' Up!. The background is the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel in Regal Rose ink.

This is actually a CD pocket on the front, and I used velcro to hold the front flaps down...

When you open it up, you will see the second CD pocket...

And the last...

This was really fun and simple to make!

My Sample for Colour Inspiration Challenge 19

Here is my card for Kristina's Colour Challenge. I just got my first new catty order, so I had to play right away! So I used the black, the gray, the white, and....the blue. My colour of choice is Baja Breeze! I chose that because I saw my new double stitched ribbon in that colour, and I really wanted to use it. I tried to tie it 2 times, and ended up wasting it. I need practice with the fat ribbons.

For the main image, I used the new stamp set Upsy Daisy. I covered the stamp with the Basic Gray ink, then I took my sponge dauber, soaked it in Baja Breeze ink, and dabbed that around some of the flowers, so there is a dual-toned sort of look to it.

In the background, I used the Inspired By Nature stamp set (the grass), and stamped that in Basic Gray ink, and sponged the bottom.

I used an old chipboard piece from one of the retired packs. I covered it in Versamark, put the Heat & Stick powder on it, and heated it up with the heat tool. While it was sticky, I poured Onyx Glitter on it (Martha Stewart), and then heat set. THe middle part is the Designer Label Punch and the Large Oval Punch.

3 other Stamp Camp Samples

Here are the 3 other cards we will be making this Sunday. I CASE'd many of the layouts from random cards on SCS. All 6 cards use new In Colors!


The first card uses a Kiwi Kiss base, with the Stitched Backround embossed in black. The flowers all have different hardware on them. Jumbo eyelet, new bouquet button, Rhinestone brad & half-back pearl (Pretties Kit). I figure it make it interesting to look at. More interactive. This set is also for 2-step stamping, in case you're a fan of that technique. Two of the flowers are layered with more than 1 stamp.

3 Stamp Camp Cards

OK, I have my first new catty Stamp Camp this Sunday, August 17. I have posted 3 out of the 6 projects that we will be doing.

The first one uses the stamp set Always. I really love this set and did not get it until recently. I earned it for free after hosting a stamp camp a couple months ago!

It's very simple - just a plain white background. I think it looks crisp that way. I also used the new Tangerine Tango colour, which I love! I stamped the heart from the set onto Apricot CS with Versamark, and embossed with White EP (emboss powder). I also used everyone's new best friend - the Scallop Edge Punch.

The second card uses everyone's other friend, Sock Monkey. I have read some very mixed reviews about this set, and as a demonstrator, we had a chance to pre-order it before the catalogue came out, which I did. I think it's a great set if you need something for a child, or if you need something not so girly. I did a lot of sponging in Chocolate Chip on several of these layers. I watercoloured with my Aqua Painter & Earth Elements Watercolour Wonder Crayons. The DSP is old, though. It is the Close to Cocoa Prints pack that has now retired, but I still need to use it up. The card base is made from the new Baja Breeze colour!

Lastly, this card is pretty plain too. I think the big white space is effective. I used the set Bloomin Beautiful, which was in the Occasions Mini 2008, and has been carried over into the Fall/Winter 08 collection. Yay! I masked off a strip at the top, and stamped the definition stamp in Sahara Sand several times. I also stamped it again on a scrap piece of white. Then I stamped my sentiment from Sincere Salutations in blue on the scrap, and cut it out with my Large Oval Punch and sponged around in blue. By the way, have you seen the new Wide Oval Punch? I plan on getting it at some point. I stamped the flowers in Basic Black at the bottom, and had to mask some of them to layer them. I coloured with the ink from the lid and my Blender Pen. I am using the new Pacific Point colour! The wide Organdy ribbon is old, but I need to use that up as well.

My Sample for Colour Inspiration Challenge 18

Here is my sample for Kristina's Colour Challenge. You can find the colours in the post right before this. I didn't realize the deadline was coming so quickly, so I rushed this one. I used my 5-Petal Flower Punch for the main flower, and my Scor-Pal for the Grid Technique. I had to cheat because I had no Rose Red CS left (the pink panel is Purely Pomegranate, but they are VERY close). I also didn't have any Green Galore, so it was Summer Sun as the 4th colour. Do white or vanilla count? I hope not, because I think my card would have been very goth-like if I couldn't include a neutral.

Colour Challenge for the week of August 6, 2008

HAVE FUN!

Big Green Flowery Card

So, I saw some ribbon on my shelf and decided to make a really colourful card based on that theme. I used my square Nestabilities and my Cuttlebug. And I used my Coluzzle for the circles in the corner. I used a black marker and my wehite gel pen to make all of the dots (just like markiesmom on SCS).

For the main flower, I used Gable Green, and then my Taken With Teal Marker to add blue to some spots.

Watercolouring with Stampin' Write Markers and Ink Refills

It's pretty easy to watercolour with markers and ink refills. You need some Staz-On, an Aqua Painter, and some Watercolour Paper.

1. Stamp your image onto your watercolour paper in Staz-On ink. You can use black, or any of the other colours they produce.

2. Colour the marker on the parts of your image that you would like to be darker. Use the Aqua Painter to blend the colour out to the rest of the image. You can always add some more marker if you want some parts a little darker.

3. For the reinker, you can squeeze a TINY drop out onto one of your stamp containers (or any other non-porous surface). A little goes a long way! Pick the ink up with your Aqua Painter, and colour your image with that. I have used a reinker in the Tangerine Tango colour, as Stampin' Up! does not produce Stampin' Write Markers in their In Color family.

4. This is my finished image.

5. Decorate and finish!

Heidi Swapp Mask Tutorial

I've done another quick tutorial on Heidi Swapp Masks. These masks are like reverse stencils. They cover a piece of paper in the shape of a certain image, so that you can add colour around the image, and when you remove the mask, the image is left.


I also used my Pearl Crimson Dew Drop as my ink medium.




1. I have my Heidi Swapp Mask (this one is called Butterflies), my Dew Drop ink, and a piece of white CS.

















2. The mask itself has adhesive on 1 side. You would peel the mask off the backing and lay it on your cardstock. If you only want to use part of the image, you can cut it. You can always put it back onto the backing, and re-use it again.









3. Once you have affixed your mask to your cardstock, you can start to apply your ink. To apply the ink, you can sponge it on, but I used the Direct-To-Paper technique (DTP). I just applied the ink straight onto the paper. This Dew Drop ink is a fast-drying pigment ink.















4. Make sure you have an even coverage over the entire piece of paper - get into all of the creases.














5. Once you have finished inking, you can remove the mask slowly. Place it back onto the backing, and wipe the ink off of it. You have your finished piece now.

6. Decorate and finish!

Paper Piecing Tutorial

So, I have made a very basic tutorial on Paper Piecing (not to be confused with Paper Piercing).

Firstly, you will need a stamp that is a line image (not a solid stamp).

1. Stamp your image onto your main piece of CS. In this case, I have used plain old white.

2. Stamp your image a second time onto another piece of CS or DSP. I have chosen the brown polka dot paper from the new Bella Rose DSP.

3. Cut out the pieces you would like to use on your main image.

4. See if you like the way it will look.

5. If you choose, colour in the remaining spots on your image.

6. Take your adhesive of choice, and stick your cut out pieces onto your main image.

7. Decorate and finish!

CC177 & SC187

Hi all,

I just completed a Sketch and Colour Challenge from over on SCS. You can find the original Sketch thread here and the original Colour thread here if you want to play along. CC177 was to use Sahara Sand, Whisper White and Groovy Guava. *sob* Saying goodbye to Groovy Guava is distressing! SC187 gives the layout with the 3 panels in the back and the main rectangle panel.



It is a standard card base (5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Sahara Sand folded in half), and the back Guava panel is 4" x 4 1/2". That Guava piece is run through my Cuttlebug with the Floral Fantasy embossing folder. I wrapped a piece of Guava Double Stitched Ribbon around it before adhering it to the card base.

Each white panel is 1" x 4", and they are stamped with the set A Beautiful Thing with Groovy Guava and Sahara Sand ink. Then I ran them through the CB with the same emboss folder. I swiped the sides with the Guava stamp pad.
I layered those onto Sahara pieces (1 1/8" x 4 1/8") and they were raised up with Dimensionals.

The centre panel is a piece of Whisper White CS measuring 2" x 3". I stamped the sentiment from A Beautiful Thing in Versamark and embossed it with Clear EP (Emboss Powder). I brayered over it with Groovy Guava ink. It's layered on a 2 1/8" x 3 1/8" piece of Sahara Sand. Those were both punched with the Ticket Corner Punch. Flowers were punched with the Three For You Punch, and Vintage Brads were added to the middle.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to place the border at the bottom.
